NONOSTANTE LA NEBBIA / DESPITE THE FOG

According to Interpol, over ten thousand refugees of minors without parental care are wandering today in Europe, half of which are on Italian roads. Despite the Fog is a movie story about one of them. Ali-Musa Sarhan, a refugee whose parents drowned while traveling by rubber boat on the Italian coast in search of a better life, is accepted by family, husband and wife who have lost a child. They are trying to find solace in little Arab and a sort of replacement for their early deceased son, Mark. Valeria and Paolo are increasingly confronted with resistance from the environment and their own family, who do not accept their decision to keep Muhammad.

GORAN PASKALJEVIĆ
Goran Paskaljevic is one of Europe's most respected independent directors. He was born in 1947 in Belgrade (Serbia) and he studied at the well-known Prague school of cinema FAMU. He has made 30 documentaries and 18 feature films (Cabaret Balkan, Special Treatment, Someone Else's America, How Harry Became a Tree, Midwinter Night's Dream, When Day Breaks...), shown and acclaimed at the most prestigious international film festivals (Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Toronto, San Sebastian...). The Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA) in 2008 and the British Film Institute (London) in 2010, both presented a full retrospective of his feature films, along with the publication of a monograph in English about his work.
