Alejandro Gil is a Cuban director and screenwriter who graduated in Journalism at the University of Havana in 1982. He began his artistic life as an assistant director in 1984, in the series Something More to Dream. He has made documentaries, fiction shorts, video clips, programmes and series for film and television and seven films. His films have participated in numerous national and international events inside and outside of Cuba and have received notable awards. His works include Heavy Theme, Laberintos, Extravíos, Montaña de luz, La emboscada, and in 2018 the feature film Inocencia, the most awarded Cuban film at the 40th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema.
