Kasi Lemmons (1961) is an American film director and actress. She has directed Eve's Bayou, The Caveman's Valentine, Talk to Me, Black Nativity, and her highest-grossing film, 2019's Harriet. She attended New York University’s School of the Arts but transferred to UCLA to major in history. Her acting credits include episodic roles in the Academy Award winner for Best Picture The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Candyman (1992) and Hard Target (1993).
Harriet is a rich, enlightening portrait - as sturdy and straightforward as the title character herself.
