Tunisia, summer 2011. The holiday to the South of the country ends in disaster for Fares, Meriem and their 10-year-old son Aziz, when their car is hit by a stray bullet during an ambush by an armed group. His injury will change their lives: Aziz needs a liver transplant, which leads to discovery of a long-buried secret.

Mehdi Barsaoui (1984, Tunisia) graduated from the Higher Institute of Multimedia Arts of Tunis and also holds a degree in film directing from Drama, Arts and Music Studies (DAMS) in Bologna. He has directed three short films: Sideways (2010), Bobby (2013) and We're Just Fine Like This (2016). His feature film debut, A Son (2019), had its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival. It won the Arab Cinema's Horizons Award at the Cairo International Film Festival 2019.
